About Me

I am 'KovZsi', Zsigmond Kovács, a world record-holding caricaturist. I was born in Jászberény at Christmas in 1976. I currently live here and create my works both locally and across the country. I entered the world of caricature drawing in 2005. Every weekend, I travel to festivals and events in the signature colors of the 'KovZsi' caricature brand. From early spring to late autumn, I set up on-site to bring joy to people through my drawings. You can contact me for caricature commissions any time of the year—I'm happy to be at your service! Yes, I also draw based on photos! See the 'Order from Photo' menu! I lived in Szeged from 1989 to 2021, where I started a family. My sons: Boti, Bálint, Martin, and Kristóf.

I expressed my painterly inclinations through landscape and nude painting, creating numerous works in my own style. During my university years, I discovered the world of colors and forms, and developed a dynamic visual language. The linework and movement in my landscapes and cityscapes were almost caricature-like, foreshadowing my caricaturist approach. I say I absorbed that approach with my mother’s milk—well... not really, just kidding! :D Anyway... even these early works hinted at my caricaturist perspective: the line drawing, the spatial bending of forms, the emphasis and omission, all reflect my personality. My favorite painting subjects are the light-contrast and color floods of Mediterranean cityscapes, the vivid rooftops, and the dynamic and exciting geometry.

Drawing human faces brings me joy—it is the joyful vocation of my life. I mainly create caricatures and paintings by commission. I draw at events, and in my spare time I paint landscapes or enrich my ARCvonások series with new portrait-caricatures! More details in the ARCvonások section! I create my artworks with charcoal or colored pastels. My artistic mottos: "The world belongs to charcoal!" "...because there are no ugly people, only faces full of character!" Fun fact: Few people know that composing music has been my hobby since childhood. My music has a video game vibe, echoing the style of the '80s. I'm slowly working on creating my own album.
